Welcome to our newly launched On the Water + In the Field Blog where we will be showcasing the many projects and initiatives the CCE Marine Team is carrying out and providing the most recent updates on our applied research, restoration and education activities. It’s been rewarding to see our social media following grow in these challenging times as more and more community members have reached out to engage with us. Given this heightened interest, we plan to use this platform as a way to better serve and keep you up to date on everything we do.
In a strange way, the COVID-19 Pandemic has allowed us to not only continue the work that we love, but also to expand and enhance our efforts to support a healthy and sustainable marine environment. The past year has no doubt posed many challenges for us as a program, as it has for you as individuals, families and businesses, but we’ve come out of this challenge stronger. There is no doubt that our normal operations have been affected by new and evolving social distancing guidelines and safety protocols to ensure our field technicians, hatchery workers, researchers and educators can continue to do their important work, but even under this pressure…we have thrived.
In the coming weeks and months, we will be featuring weekly staff profiles, an expansion of our popular “Meet the Marine Team” feature on social media, as we acknowledge our talented staff and the important work they do. In addition to this, we plan to highlight and offer thanks to those organizations, groups and individuals that have helped us weather this storm with grants, donations and in-kind support. We really couldn’t have done it without you!
