Stewardship Session: Shellfish 101

  • CCE Marine Program, at SCMELC (Suffolk County Marine and Environmental Learning Center) 3690 Cedar Beach Road Southold, NY, 11971 United States (map)

Please join our Shellfish Stewardship Session led by one of our Aquaculture Specialists!

Every year our Southold shellfish hatcheries produce millions of oysters, hard clams, and bay scallops for various restoration and enhancement projects — but what does that really mean? At this event you will learn about the life cycles and reproduction behaviors of these valued local shellfish species followed by a tour our facility to get a first-hand view of how we produce and care for them.

This Shellfish Stewardship Session will be a fun, educational, and immersive experience that is not one to miss! Appropriate for all ages, but parent supervision is required for participants under the age of 16.
